Thanks for the heads up Raff, I have "Stuck" your topic so that people can see that XP SP2 will have issues if you try it's version of telnet to TiVo It's always better to run putty though it seems!
Cheers
Hi There,
I have had my Tivo for quite a while now. Recently I installed Windows XP Servive Pack 2, and at around the same time I decided to upgrade the TiVo to the new version 3 software. All went well, both of them, until I tried to telnet into TiVo that is. Long story short, telnet on XP SP2 doesnt woork to TiVo, I used Putty instaed, no more problems!
Thanks to whoever is responsible for the Version 3 ISO, it is very slick.
Just putting all our shows back on as I type.

Its not XP SP2 that is the problem, its the lastest image telnetd server. It doesn't like windows default telnet program (telnet.exe)
Its recommended in the notes to use putty or a 'real' telnet program.
hell, i couldn't even get the built in winblows telnet program to fire up ( kept causing unexpected errors )
i like putty, it plays well with others
its not that im lazy, its that i just dont care
