There is no technical difference between the Aus or NZ units.
I can's speak for the software as that is not my domain, but I would not think it was limited either.
Does the Australian Series 3 deliver 1080i over component?
The NZ model doesn't.
I'm interested to know technically, what was done in the NZ model to restrict component over HD (it's useful for Slingbox and other streaming devices).

In NZ the Freeview licence required component output to be bandwidth limited.
Other NZ Freeview devices provided HD over component, but generally were not Freeview badged or licenced, despite being fully functional for live to air TV.
Draco/Sanyo and Vantage units all provide HD over component.
NZ Tivo doesn't and I wondered where or how they limited the output - software or hardware.
Easy way to find out. Try another hard disk with the generic 11.3b10 software.

Trying an updated, fully working drive with up to date software and EPG working, shows the component output at 576i.
If you do a full clear and delete everything and pick Australia instead of New Zealand what happens?

Darren before I do that, can anyone confirm please what does your TV show as the resolution from your Oz Tivo using component output?
[QUOTE=Maxcat;18658]Does the Australian Series 3 deliver 1080i over component?
My wife is currently watching "The Phantom of the Opera" delivered by my Australian Tivo via component in 1080i and it looks magnificent.
Thank you. Confirmed 1080i OK in Oz.
I tried to do an Oz set up and as expected, it wouldn't let me progress.
I entered a Sydney area code and I just wanted to see if it would go further and at least give me some indication of 1080i over component.
It wouldn't let me go any further through set up after Clear and Delete, rejecting the Oz set up and sending me back to the main screen to choose NZ or Oz (due to channels non availability).
And obviously, there would be no channels to view. Nonetheless worth a try!
This was done on a brand new Tivo (now stored) with all mods working.
