I've just moved house to an area with no landline or broadband connections, so am using a Vodem stick in my PC to get internet access. I've connected my Series 1 TiVo direct to my PC via Ethernet cable and can "see" the TiVo via putty and TiVoWeb. The proble is, TiVo can't seem to make it's daily call....keeps coming up with "service not available"....it isn't getting an internet connection. When it was connected via a broadband router, all was fine. Any suggestions please?
There isn't a problem with TiVo IP address as I can hook into it via putty or TiVoweb and force a daily call etc etc. The problem is that it can't get an internet connection via the PC....something to do with sharing I think...
OK. This means your need to turn your PC into a router.
If using windows have a look at this:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...ection-sharing
Otherwise let me know your platform.
Have you had a look at the Networking tab at Oztivo.net. Notably http<colon>//www<dot>oztivo<dot>net/twiki/bin/view/Network/NetworkingWithXP
Have you looked at OzTivo net. Notably OzTiVo Networking with Windows XP.
