I have completed a phone call on both of my TiVos last night (postcode 02112) with no problems so I suspect the problem is at your end.
Is there a server problem? Got a clean daily call yesterday, but today keeps coming back "service unavailable" I can telnet in etc, so network connection is ok.....

Hmm...still unable to get a connection, TiVo spends 5 mins or so "connecting" then says "failed, service unavailable" I've tried rebooting and no effect.....any suggestions?
Hard wired TiVo to router with Ethernet cable, got a daily call completed with no problem, so fault must be with the Linksys WiFi extender/ bridge I've been using to connect the TiVo to our wireless network. Been working fine for weeks, has suddenly packed a sad....checking on the internet, not an unusual occurrence!
