Guide data issues and tips to resolve

This topic is for situations where your TiVo has missing, confusing or generally wrong Electronic Program Guide (EPG) data

Well, it's not missing, confusing, or even wrong since it's presumably intentional, but since switching to the ozTivo mothership, every show has the first 50-odd characters of the description text echoed in the episode title field; it's wrong in the sense that that is not the episode title. Couldn't the proper title be sourced from the internet and put there instead?

It probably can. Not being involved with the EPG/software side I will pass on the info.

    Hi Guys

Another Whirlpooler coming across & it's great to be here. First of all a big thankyou to everyone involved in getting the TiVo's back up and running. I have had 8 x TiVo's modded with the help of Darren & Russ in Brisbane. All five TiVo's in the Brisbane area are working great with full guide data. I have another three on the Sunshine Coast (postcode 4558) that have all the local station guide data missing. National channels such as ABC, SBS & NITV have 2 days guide data. All other channels show "to be announced". it was like that two weeks ago when I left and when I got back today it still is the same. The TiVo's last connection to the Oztivo Mothership was this morning.

Hopefully the guys involved in putting together the guide can help. Thanks again to all the volunteers.

    Cheers FD13

Has anyone else had an issue of the recorder cutting short on a film? I mean, I set up the recording as normal, but the film starts and finishes later than the times stated so I miss the ending.
It's happened twice now!!! Sort it out please.

The guide data is produced from TV listings from the broadcaters and as these are produced in advance they don't reflect what is happening in real time. If you want to be certain to get all of any program set your TiVo to record extra time when you set it to record.

Btw Your last comment is a little less than helpful to the volunteers that are ensuring the TiVos we are using are still functional.

I'll second Islander's last comment. This is a voluntarily run service now so if you expect something then we in turn expect you to volunteer.

If the end of programs is such an issue then why don't you just set them to extend by 30 minutes or so?

Everyone appreciates that people volunteer. How about I put my hand up? Maybe then we would be up with daylight savings?

    Today I updated this page:
    http://www.oztivo.net/twiki/bin/view...DoingForOzTiVo

The main thing that regular people can help with is the daily guide changes, where we are looking for a volunteer in each city/region. It doesn't need specialised skills, but you need to read emails, use a web browser and have something like 10-60 minutes available each day (or most days). The main benefit is having more accurate TV Guide information for TiVos in your city/region.

What do you mean about daylight savings?
I think OzTiVo S3 daylight savings handling is fairly good now (and usually improves a bit every 6 months). Some of the shows in the TV guide around 2-3am at DST end may be in the wrong order or not quite right, and there is usually a difficulty with TV guide info after 11pm on DST end day in April. Were you thinking of one of those things or something else? And what city or region are you in?
If the time on your TiVo didn't adjust automatically at the right time, then let us/me know what postcode you put in Guided Setup (look in TiVo > Messages and Settings > Account and System Information > System Information > Postal Code if you are not sure) and what happened or didn't happen.

I live in Auckland and am more than happy to help out. Is it across all channels in freeview?
The thing with daylight savings was that, while everything was in the right order, it appeared that the additional hour hadn't been accounted for. A movie that started at 1:00am on Sunday 7 April should have the following listing start at 2:00am. It didn't. Although, now everything is just fine.
Do you have my email in the system? I am going away for a couple of days from today but I will be back on Thursday 11th April.
If there seems to be an issue with the Tivo guide I normally check here..... https://freeviewnz.tv/tvguide/whats-on/ That seems to have everything I need.
Anyway - I'm back Thursday. Lynette.
