    PAL Tuner install???

I have to do a PAL Tuner install for a friend on his HDR212. How complicated is the soldering job to complete this? I've done some basic soldering before, but not a large boards like this.
    Thanks

I'm assuming that you only have the PAL tuner and no stereo sound decoder components, so therefore you will be following the mono sound install procedure.

The overall procedure can be a bit tough for some, especially the pin lifting on the Micronas chip which is required for feeding the audio in. The pins are brittle and do snap easily if you are not careful. The other pitfall is the old tuner removal which can be tricky. Don't use too much heat and pull out the through-hole circuit board traces otherwise you can lose the electrical continunity beteen upper and lower sides of the board which may lead to all sorts of problems in getting the tuner working.

    Good luck
