Thread: Which model TiVo to buy?

  1. #1

Question Which model TiVo to buy?

    Hi There,

Please excuse this message if it has already been asked...(but please direct me to the response).

I am off to the US next week and plan to buy a new TiVo when I am there. Can anyone suggest exact model names/numbers that I can safely buy?
I am aware that series 2 units cannot be moded YET, so how do I ID them in the shop - it thought it would easier to just look around for specific models that you guys are alredy using.

Thanks for anything you can advise or direct me to.

The consensus seems to be Philips Series 1 Standalone of which there are the following models:

    • HDR110
    • HDR112
    • HDR212
    • HDR310
    • HDR312
    • HDR31201
    • HDR31202
    • HDR31203
    • HDR31204
    • HDR612

    Cheers, Dave.

What did you pay for the unit and what was the shipping cost?

I also got mine off e-bay (yet to arrive) as did a few mates - seems like the best way to go. I got one with a TurboNet card and 80Ghdd (includes std. 20G hdd) for $140USD....sweet.

    Exclamation No

Its a DirectTV TiVo which doesn't work in Australia. See here:

    Suitable Tivo

I just bought a PVR 300 - it's a series 1 but not on your list here. Is it going to be OK?

    Not Sure

    Hi Toaster,

Is it a Philips? My HDR31202 has "PTV300" on the back as well. Perhaps that what it is?

Any further info (or perhaps an eBay link)?

    Cheers, Dave.
