Brought my Tivo home, what next?

OK. I brought my Tivo from USA to Turkey.

I have read some but really I got even more confused. Can someone tell me what I will do step by step here? Please with all the details. I don't want to write what I know not to confuse you and myself. Can someone explain it for me?

    Example:

    1- Download this
    2- Do this
    3- Do that
    etc.

    Turkey uses PAL system.

Please, I want to set my Tivo up to be able use it here.

    Thanks!

There are lots of 'how to' documents available on the OzTiVo website.
May I suggest you read through them.

Here are links to the ones you will need to read:

Let me ask this at least.

Is being in Turkey make somethings impossible for me such as Guide, calls, or other things?

Ok. I am downloading this: http://minnie.tuhs.org/TiVo/files/im...2-20050524.iso

    Then this:

    http://minnie.tuhs.org/TiVo/files/im...ivo_bootCD.iso

    What is this?

    http://minnie.tuhs.org/TiVo/files/im...release1.3.iso

Is this ISO have the PAL trick in it?

Man! This sites are very confusing at least for me. Or I am little stupid!

I hope I will not be the only one who writes to this topic.

So, I read something like this.

If you are going to receive TV via a PayTV (cable or sat), a digital STB, a VCR, you do not need the tuner mod done as TiVo will accept PAL inputs, by the one factory fitted AV input without any changes, or you can elect to have two A/V inputs by way of the "second audio mod" as also described in pictures and words on Darren's page.

Does it mean, I don't have to do anything at all about PAL? I will use it with satellite receiver BUT I thought Tivo still needs to be modified to be able to receive PAL signal.

The satellite can also give NTSC and the TV can accept NTSC but the source (TV stations) airs in PAL, so Tivo has to be PAL, correct?

You do not need this file, as the 20050524 file makes a bootable ISO.

The 20050524 version has all the current files to make your TiVo work in PAL mode.

You will be able to use your TiVo as a digital recorder, but it will not have any guide data.

The TiVo does not need to have any hardware modification to be used with a PAL source from your Satellite box, as long as you use the RCA or S-Video inputs.

You have the choice of either using our software and recording in PAL or keep the original software and record in NTSC. You cannot do both. It depends on what your Satellite box is outputing.

Please search this forum and our Website for your TiVo questions before starting a new thread. Thanks!

    Again questions.

I know I am being annoying because I even find myself annoying but I want to do this thing!

Is there any way I can get away using the Tivo without TV Guide and/or no calls for guide, updates, etc.?

I am sorry for being such an idiot.

Oooo thank you! I get it better now!

    Okay SO if you say

Can I just use the Tivo as it is right now since when I switch my satellite reciever to NTSC and since the TV automatically detects NTSC, I can watch it with no problems.

However, when I reset the Tivo, I cannot pass the setup process as it has to dial for guide, etc.

    Thanks!

I am so sorry for multiple questions but here it goes again.

I used to have a ReplayTV which I loved and it had also network card in it. But it was NTSC. I asked at the time and was told that there is no way I could use the unit in a country that has PAL. So, was that wrong information? If it was, I will die because I loved that unit so much

Channels air in PAL. Satellite receiver can switch to all TV systems. TV can show all systems, PAL, NTSC, etc. Would I be able to record and watch with Replay TV then?

    Please someone say NO!
