Running External Programs on Tivo

Fairly new to the Tivo scene and now have a network connected Tivo running perfectly.
Just pondering the idea of running an non-tivo related program on the tivo.
My idea is to run a linux dynamic dns program on the tivo to update my ip address.
Anyone have ideas on wethere this wil effect the performance of the Tivo etc.
My understanding is basically the software just posts my ip address to the no-ip servers once a day.
Tivo is the perfect solution as it is on 24/7

It shouldn't be too taxing if you set a cron to do it early in the morning when you are not likely to be using the remote.

But try and load as little as possible onto the tivo as it only a 42mhz processor, and it already has a lot of work to do.
