SONY Remote Isn't Working

Hi, I just took delivery of a SONY SVR-2000 TiVo.
I bought it off eBay 'New In Box' and had it forwarded through George.

I am having some big problems with the remote though.
Many of the buttons do not work (the LED does not come on).

The following DO work:
-Muting
-Number Buttons: 4,5,6,7,8,9,0
-TiVo button
-Up, Down, Left, Right, Select
-Play, Slow, Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward, Record

The following DO NOT work:
-TV Power, TiVo Power
-Number buttons 1,2,3
-Clear
-Enter/Jump
-List
-Guide/LiveTV
-Thumbs Up & Down
-Replay, Advance
-Channel Up/Down
-Volume Up/Down

Any ideas what to do?

Hi and welcome. It does not sound promising especially that only some of the number keys work.

Although you can try one thing: Hold down the Pause and TiVo buttons at the SAME time. After about three seconds the red LED will light up steady. Then press the number zero key. Red LED will now flash a few times.

This sets the remote to default.

If you still get the same behaviour you describe then I'm sorry to tell you, but you have a dud remote. The reason will be that there is a crack in the circuit board. I know as I have seen this all before when repairing them.

Thanks for the reply Darren. It didn't work. The LED stayed on even after pressing 0. I had to take out the batteries to get the remote to "work" again.

Thanks anyway though.
