    Talking I'm so excited !!!!

    G'day folks,

I'm so excited. I just bought my Series 1 Philips through Ebay. $80US plus shipping, just in case you were wondering. It has 2 HDD bays and I'm going to drop 2 x 120Gb Seagates into the thing. Got a TurboNet Card coming as well! All I have to do is figure out what to do next LOL.
I know nix 'bout Linux, but hey, the instructions seems clear. And before you start to worry about whether I'll be ok, I have had previous Unix experience and can build a PC from dropped screws up.

Now the next thing I got to figure out is :
    [list]
[1]Where to get the weekly program guides....and
[2]How to get them onto the damn thing LOL
But I'll keep on reading and I'm sure to find out.
Hey, this is nearly as much fun as navigating through and Advanced D & D Adventure!

    Regards,
    Frank

    Thumbs up

Welcome to the exciting world of TiVo Frank.

Where are you? In NZ or Australia? If you're in Australia the OzTivo image will be set up to automatically load the guide information. If you're in NZ you'll need to change it to look at a NZ website, which you'll find on http://www.tjv.info/tivo.aspx

Since you'll be getting a Turbonet card with it, you'll be able to get the guide info thru that (using your PC to connect to the internet). Theres other options as well as using the built in modem to dial your ISP directly and downloading. I find going via the Turbonet easiest

All the info you need is on the OzTiVo website http://minnie.tuhs.org/twiki/bin/view

with additional information for NZ TiVo at http://www.tjv.info/tivo.aspx

    Cheers,
    Grant

Thumbs up Thanks for the warm welcome

To anser your questions, I'm in Melbourne and plan to hook up the TiVo to my 4 port Green-Tek router. Fortunately for my, my son-in-law is a Linux guru! No, really, he's a network admin who's a specialist in Linux, so instead of me having to spend the usual 3 hours required for newbies setting the thing up (yes I know its only meant to take moments, however as with any project you need to add %100 of the time alocation and then double it).
So, while the Tivo makes its merry way from USof A to me, I've allready bought the Seagates and will prepare them this weekend. Still excited!

Good on ya! Keep up the enthusiasm!

You shouldn't have too many worries at all. Easy as to set up (around an hour or so max) that's of course things going well

Don't forget to check out minnie as there's lots of helpful info on there too.

    Cheers,
    Grant
