Thread: Change default save time.

    Change default save time.

I have had my TIVO for a few days now and its great,

These forums and all the howto's have been very helpfull with a few problems I encountered and a few tweeks I wanted to apply. There is only one problem I cant seem to find a solution for..

When I ask TIVO to record a program it defaults to only retain the recording for about 48 hours or something like that.

Is it posible to set the TIVO to default its "save time" to unlimited ie: untill I manualy delete the recording my self ?

I have checked all the documentation I can find and cant seem to see this mentioned anywhere, I also looked through all the TIVO menus and cant seem to find any option like this. Its very likley I have missed it some where though.

Cany anyone help? I am sure it can be done.

If you have recorded something already, then all you need to do is goto your "Now Playing" section, and press "Select" on the program you want to change this for.

You can then change the retention time of a show...
    Select "Save Until..."
and you can change it to "Until I delete"

If you are setting up shows to be recorded, choose the "Extra Options" I think they are called, and you can "Save until I delete" as well there.

This means, when you set up your season passes, set your shows for save until I delete then all of your shows will automatically be set this way.

It is important to have free space on your TiVo. If it cannot free up space to record upcoming shows it will have a headache.

Also do a search on Dealdatabae.com there are tools to automate marking all shows to be saved.
