    Post Uploading video to TiVo

    hi all

Appreciate this might be answered in a FAQ somewhere but couldn't find anything in a quick search of OzTiVo.

I would like to be able to upload films that I have on my laptop in various different formats (MPG, DIVX, AVI etc etc) to my TiVo so I can watch them on TV as opposed to on my laptop's small screen.

Is there a utility out there which will convert movies into a suitable format for upload to TiVo?

    cheers

    SR

    Convert MPEG to Ty

The TiVo requires recordings in a Ty format... while this is very similar to MPEG, it differs enough to make the conversion from MPEG->Ty difficult.

The easiest solution is to play the movie via a TV out card and "record" via an input on the TiVo. However, if you are technically minded then you might like to try using mplex to convert an MPEG file into the required Ty format.

The development thread for this is here, and the support thread is here.
