How to do a scan disk / disk check etc?

    Hi All,

I've had a perfectly fine running TiVo for well over a year. The first thing when I bought it was to upgrade the HDD to a Western Digital AV-GP 1TB and used the WInMFS app to do the cloning.

Anyway now the TiVo reboots often in the middle of recording and playback.

Does anyone know of some form MFS file system scanning tool to detect or correct file system errors?

I'll download the Western Digital tool to see if it finds anything wrong but there may be nothing wrong with the drive just the file system.

    Thanks heaps,
    Adrian

I'd suggest using the Seagate seatool's tool (will work on WD drives) for drive scanning. Other than that there is not much around for actually repairing the MFS, other than a clear and delete all.

I've heard that you can use the TiVo kickstart tests for HDD testing: http://www.weaknees.com/tivo-kickstart-codes.php
This can also test and repair MFS.

Steve, your response was stuck in the forums ether until today.

I would recommend using the kickstart codes as a last resort, and only when you have already made a backup of the problem drive. As it has been known to cause reboot loops.
