slice refusing to load, fails on dbload30.tcl

    Hi everyone
My tivo stopped loading guide data about two weeks ago - the phone call works, the data downloads, and then it says "Failed while preparing data"

So I thought I'd try it manually.

I manually downloaded the latest slice file (VI13001_14635-14649.slice.gz) ie

    which worked fine.

    I then decompressed it ie
    gzip -d VI13001_14635-14649.slice.gz

    which worked fine!

I then tried to load it into the database, and got the following message

    [TiVo [p0] /hack/guide]# dbload30.tcl VI13001_14635-14649.slice
    dbload (0x3001d)

    while executing
    "dbload $db $file"
    (file "/hack/bin/dbload30.tcl" line 20)
    [TiVo [p0] /hack/guide]#

Anyone have any ideas what is going wrong? It almost looks like the database is corrupt or can't be opened..

Just as well you were not trying this on a HD TiVo

How long has the TiVo not been able to load data?

Can you take a look at the myslices page and paste what it shows.

    Peter.

Yep, that is what I've done already - that is how I found VI13001_14635-14649.slice.gz, it was the last one on the myslices page.
It stopped loading on Jan 17th.
And I assume I just have load the final slice in the list, not all the ones since then?

Given both the manual and automatic loading of slices is failing, could it be something wrong with my dbase?

At this point can't tell if it is software or hardware corruption.

I suggest you reload all the slices available for VI13001 using these instructions.

If that does not clear the corruption, I'd suggest running some drive tests before going further.

    Peter.

Yep, tried than and none of the slice would load - they all die on the "dbload $db $file" line...

What drive tests (and how) can I run?

Download seagates seatools utility (works for all brands)

    How old is the drive?
