Question how do i change IR codes via telnet? ish :)

    Hiya

Just got my tivo back tonight with the PAL tuner mod ( its a US phillips series 1 )

I've also plugged in a foxtel satellite ( new digital service ) set top box ( http://www.pace.co.uk/products/prodinfo.asp?PID=DC420 )

I can't find the correct IR codes in there But some searching netted me the codes for the STU420s which is sitting in the IR database on at oztivo.

So I've spent the last few hours trying to get this working. I've sent the .tcl file to my tivo using an FTP client. I put it in /var/hack/guide/stb on the tivo but i cant figure out how to get my tivo to see this new file in the guided set up!

I used this HowTo but Im just not getting it

    Any ideas?

    maybe i should clarify

i am currently using one of the existing IR options ( pace 20000 i think ) that i found during guided setup.

but ive seen a new one in the IR database section of the oztivo website. this one sounds like it would be better.

    1) how do i get the IR .tcl file into my tivo

    2) how do i make this new IR .tcl file available to select ( ie 30000 ) in the guided setup?

    Hi elarbee,

Hmm. From what I can tell you should be able to re-run Guided Setup, choose Satellite+Antenna, "Foxtel OzTiVo" and codeset "30050".

    Have you tried this?

    Cheers, Dave.

    Thumbs up

    Hi Dave

    Thanks for the reply

I followed Warren's set up guide ( the new one with pics http://minnie.tuhs.org/Z/Docs/newconf_gs.html ) and it says *not* to use sat and ant and that I should pick sat and cable ( cable being analogue FTA )

So with this setup, I haven't been able to find 30050. I've looked in "oztivo foxtel" but it only goes up to 30045. I also looked in "Pace" but again no luck finding 30050.

I don't know jack about linux and barely understand command line interface via telnet but I spent a few hours with it and got a clue So I thought I'd send the new 30050 .tcl file into my tivo via FTP ( which I did, I think ) and BANG it would show up! but no luck! lol

Should I redo guided setup and choose sat & ant despite Warren's setup guide? Maybe then it will show up?

Im in central Perth. Im using the new foxtel satellite digital service ( which is a sham IMO ) with the new small Pace STU and analogue FTA. My TiVo is running version 3.0

If I've missed anything please let me know.

    Thanks again!

    Hi elarbee,

No don't do that - I now recall that there are issues with Sat+Ant. Apologies for that dud piece of advice.

There has been some recent activity with IR slices. If you look at...

    http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-static/headends/

    ... you'll see that IR-oztivo-v206.slice.gz is timestamped 28-Jul-2004 10:51.

If you haven't tried Guided Setup since that time then give it another go - the way you've been trying it previously. I think you should find the codes this time (fingers crossed).

By the way, if you can see "FOXTEL OzTiVo" and "Foxtel Oztivo" then choose the latter. Then look for codeset 30050.

    Cheers, Dave.

    Thanks Dave

I'll check out the link and have another go at it.

And thanks for the tip between "FOXTEL OzTiVo" and "Foxtel Oztivo" I probably wouldn't have picked that up
