FYI - I don't know how easy it is to undo, but you can manually increase the server version variable on your tivo so that the headend updates are ignored.
In TivoWeb, go to more->MFS->Headend
There will be a list of numbers, you need to figure out which one you are using for your region (I suspect it is 29868 for Nelson). If you click on each one you can see the details, including the current ServerVersion number.
From Telnet (e.g. connecting to tivo using Putty) run the command:
dbsetx /Headend/29868 ServerVersion 500
obviously substitue the headend number in the command above if your's is different. It will set the version number to 500 (much larger than the normal value) and your tivo shouldn't update when the emulator changes.
Of course this is all done at your own risk - I guess the alternative is a C&D ALL so you dont have much to lose!
