New Tivo User

Hi guys,
I finally took the plunge and ordered a tivo from george in the USA.
Just got a UPS tracking update that it caught a plane at 11:30 this morning so on the way !!!

Never used any type of unix/linux/telnet before so I hope I don't have any trouble setting it up.

I have just put in an adsl modem/router at home so does anyone have any hints/tips about setting it up for the tivo. I understand I have to set up NAT on the router.

The router offers NAT, NAPT & Automatic NAPT.
Any suggestions which one to use and how to set it up for Tivo ???

hey mate i received mine from george within five days!! and im in perth!

mine's currently having the tuner swapped to pal.

Assuming that you have a single IP address on your ADSL link then you will just need to enable PAT (port address Translation)

Once you have this running then the TIVO will go out fine and attach to the internet.

In the meantime read the Guided Setup 30 Howto on Minnie and you should be set.

You will need a PC with a Cd burner to create the Linux Boot CD
