    Stuck setting time during update

This TiVo (1 of 3) has started misbehaving. 6 days ago it wouldn't do the update thingie.

In the past this happens every so often on any TiVo here, the fix has been to run Make Test Call Now
and then run Make Daily Call Now which works mostly after one cycle to get the updating back on track.

Why this is necessary we never got to the bottom of, and it was tolerable as it was.

6 days ago it wouldn't, so after being up for 6 months I rebooted. (!)

I have not watched it closely till last night where i noted it was doing an update...for a very long time....and this morning still
    is!!!

It says it is "setting the clock..." (TWP Phone screen) I do not believe it is still doing that!

    Info says:
    Last Call02:36pm, 13-Oct-07
    Last Call StatusIn Progress
    Last Success Call02:25pm, 12-Oct-07
    Next Call02:35pm, 13-Oct-07

I am thinking some process needs to be killed, but perhaps it might be prudent to seek the advise of the list first... (Please
    advise me!)

    Kind regards
    David Hingston

I have had similar problems with the TiVo getting stuck setting the clock. Often a reboot would solve it, but not always.

Recently I saw a thread that said to update ntpdate, which I have done and it seems to have fixed the problem (although its a bit too recent to be sure!)

You can find the latest oztivo version in the files area on minnie.

Thanks Dave, I understand that fix is for the oztivo version, however the NZ thomson images may work somewhat differently, I believe it may need some clarification from the NZ gurus.

I was the one who suggested replacing ntpdate, and have had no problems using it in NZ with the Thomson image

Just make sure you set DaylightSavingsPolicy and TimeZone as outlined in that thread (and are using the newest Auckland timezone file which has the changes for daylight savings dates).

Thanks guys, the update had been done. What seemed to fix it was not just rebooting, but also powering off and running up again. Presumably the power was holding something in the wrong way... Hope this helps someone else.
