Update Tivo through SerialPPP on XP - can't get TCP/IP protocol to stay checked

Hey guys,
I've been following the SerialPPPWithXP article from PetesTrashr12 the "T" and it's been going good up to step #5 where I'm stuck.

On step #5, where I'm checking the checkbox to "Select "Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click Properties", it good and all. But after
I click 'ok' and 'finish' and right click on the new incoming
connections and then properties, the Intenet Protocol (TCP/IP) is not
checked.

I check the box, click okay and go back into properties and there is
it again, unchecked. For some reason, it doesn't want to stay check.

I tried the hyperterminal thing and I am talking to the tivo system,
but I still can't dial out and I think it's because I can't check the
Internet Protocol checkbox.

I have a network connection and it's working with no issues. This is on my laptop if that matters at all.

Any suggestions/inputs is greatly appreciated!
