    Green Line on screen

Guys, Has anyone had this problem with their Tivo, I get a green line run accross the screen every 3 minutes or so which bugs the hell out of me.
Did a search on Minnie re this but could not find an answer.
Is this a hardware fault or a problem with the new image.
I have one harddrive, Temperature is normal and I'm not stressing the unit at all.

I don't have this problem so I didn't follow it up at the time

    good luck,

    hi again,
can you describe how much of a green line you were seeing from your Tivo?
I only just noticed a vertical green line that appears intermittantly when I extract files to the PC... I don't really see it when I play back from the Tivo the TV....Not sure if I'm just being picky here.
    thanks,
    Wayne

The green line problem is supposed to be caused by a fault in the MPG encoder chip.

I have this with one of my tivo's. You get used to it after a while.

Yea it looks to be a hardware problem, George had asked me to put a small heatsink onto the chip that is causing the problems and see if that helped at all.
In fact it has and I have not had the green line since (touch wood). If anyone else is having this problem, below is a link to where this chip is inside the Tivo. Just buy a small heatsink from DSE and you will have to track down some of the heatsink compound that adheres the heatsink to the chip www.pccasegear.com.au sells this.
Not sure if this will fix it for everyone but it has for me so far.

thanks Clyne for the heatsink trick...I'll give it a go, although the line is only minor and intermittent. Lately, it has become a "red" stripe.
