Thread: NANVU using MFS_FTP

  1. #1

    Question NANVU using MFS_FTP

    I have just installed MFS_FTP and Nanvu in order to transfe Movies to my TIVO. How ever when the file is uploaded by Nanvu it fails saying that there is a socket error. A zero byte file is loaded to the TIVO, which is not very useful or playable.

    In the MFS_FTP log "port.3105.log" I get the following

    ===

    03:18:09:AM - 220 Mfs_Ftp ver 1.2.9p - {sock20} from "192.168.0.100:4942"

    Try ticking "Use passive (PASV) FTP data connections" (in the "Settings" -> "General" tab). If that doesn't help then take a look at the "mfs_ftp issues" thread for some more suggestions.

    Did you install mfs_ftp as per the instructions in the "mfs_ftp installation" thread?

    If your TiVo has a large number of recordings, the FTP connection may be timing out before nanVue receives a response back from mfs_ftp. In this case try unticking "Use passive (PASV) FTP data connections" and temporarily disable any firewalls (e.g. Zonealarm, Windows XP's built in firewall, etc) running on your desktop PC.

    If the above doesn't help, let nanVue perform the encoding but tick "User initiated transfer" by the "Destination" setting. Once nanVue has finished encoding the file, you can try uploading the file via an alternate FTP program (e.g. CuteFTP, SmartFTP, Internet Explorer, etc). The encoded file can be found in the "C:\Program Files\nanVue\Temp\" directory.

    This was a firewall issue. I have also had to untick the PASV option.

    Thanks for your help
