I have posted a fault request at the SiliconDust forum, but hey there is more smart thinking on this forum than anywhere else... My cachecard no longer caches.....

Jan 1 00:00:48 (none) kernel: cachectl: ERROR: Write error: 262208 of 1048576

This last line is certainly not unique, there is an old thread with outdated links on the subject... Any one know what the fault might be? Card, RAM, Drive, software, dust bunnies, etc ???

What revision of cachecard are you running?

I have seen this error with R<2.2 when the PSU is not providing enough to run the cachecard and ram.

I have also seen this occur in all versions with faulty ram.

The voltage was 5.01V, adjusted to 5.2V Not change in the fault

Not sure how to tell which version of the card I have. How do you tell?

I will trash my daughters iMac tomorrow night and try a different 512MB SIMM.

    Thanks

I don't know if there is a way in software, but it's marked clearly on the PCB.
