It is the first time I have heard of this. Given you have already reset it to default (and assuming you have changed batteries) then it is faulty.
I have a silver TiVo peanut shape remote that came with my Thomson machine. It will operate both my Thomson and Philips machines but seems to send a signal twice or three times in quick succession and consequently, and as an example, will end up playing a program when in fact the intent was to go to "Now Playing" and then scroll or it will jump past a channel if scrolling through channels. The fault applies to all buttons.
I have searched the forums for a sniff of this problem from others but most posts relate to ir speed settings in the box and I know it does not relate to this as my remote behaves the same on both machines and the black peanut that came with the Philips works just fine on both machines.
Any hints relating to this problem would be great.
I have reset the configuration of the remote to the default but there is no change in the remote performance.

Thanks Darren, I did email George but have had no return email yet, i was going to buy a couple of boxes at the same time and make up working systems with your tuner repair for family members as gifts. Might be easier to get them sent to you and have you work your soldering magic. What is freight to Auck NZ like for a whole box, or if I can't get the boxes, for just a remote?
Give me an email off list. I should be able to help you out but would like to discuss the various options without clogging up the forums.
Cheers
