Thread: Textual TV guide?

    Textual TV guide?

I first off I'm not a TiVo owner, if that's a problem then you're free to stop reading now.

I've been looking for a source of TV schedule data, preferably in XML or some other plain text format. I've just looked at the nztivo.slice and it has a whole lot of characters that aren't displayed properly and mean the file is useless to me. Does anyone here know of a good source of data that I'd be able to use for my own little TV tool?

    Cheers,
    Craig

Thanks. Unfortunately that isn't quite going to fulfill my requirements. That site is for a .Net program that does the screen scraping and creates an XML file out of it. The app is closed source and the author doesn't want to give it away. I may have to writing my own screen scraper and use a site like http://tvnz.co.nz/view-preempt/tvnz_epg_skin/ as a source, but I was hoping for something a little easier :-)

We really can't help, we only work with tivos.

Perhaps try some other .geek.nz sites and see what you find.

That's because he was issued with a cease and decist order from TVNZ, they are just protecting their IP. I'm afraid source data is a touchy subject.
As you suggested you may need to go down your track of creating your own scrapper..
