You're right! I think it must be a form of OCD! I'm working on it!
Thanks to both Skolink and Peter for your assistance. It's good to know that help is never far away.

Everything seems to be OK now. I reverted to the 192.168.1.254 router address which caused a slight problem with the daily call.
/etc/resolv.conf had the nameserver as 192.168.1.1
When I tried to...
Hallelujah! I've got it!
I noticed that in the ARP table of connected devices, all the DHCP devices downstream of the bridge were showing up with the bridge MAC address.
In the Static ARP table...
Well, I have had some success! Here's what I did and the result:
I added the Tivo MAC addresses to the wireless filter list (they were already in the ethernet filter list) - made no difference

Hi Peter,
I can ping from any PC to every other device on the LAN including the two Tivos, the xbox, the Bridge and the router gateway. When I Telnet into either Tivo I can ping back to the bridge...
That's certainly a possibility.
The factory IP address for the bridge was 192.168.1.226. I gave it a static address 192.168.1.5.
There is nothing in the documentation to suggest that 192.168.1.254...
I have been wrestling with a network problem for a day or so and I hoping that sharper minds than mine will be able to help!
For the past couple of years my setup has been as follows:

+ IP=203.51.17.173
Thank you for all your help. You have expanded my knowledge and once...
Well done, that did the trick!
I had already changed 203 to 60 but never twigged that it was picking up character sizes as well. In any event your solution is better because I see now that Bigpond...
Here' s what I get:
+ OLDIP=<tr height=60 align=center valign=top> <td height=60 align=center> 60.228.7.242 <tr height=60> <td height=60 align=center> <tr height=60 align=center...
I just checked the execution again and I noticed it ran the full script even though my IP address had not changed.
Looks to me as if the comparison of old and current IP is not working.
Is there a...
All is well!
I should have read your first post more carefully, Matt.
I followed your first suggestion and edited the resolv.conf file to include the Bigpond nameserver and the script worked...
Thanks Matt, you were right. I edited the dyndns.sh file replacing the Host Name with the IP address (although I had to go away from www.myipaddress.com as they seem to have introduced a security...
You are spot on....I did create the file on a Windows PC, so I did what you suggested and I got the file to execute. Thank you for that.
I found I had to change some of the paths in the file...
Hi All,
I am using the HowTo:PasswordProtectedRemoteAccess and I have created the file dyndns.sh, placed it in the /var/hack directory and made it executable.
When I try to test it I get:

Peter,
My apologies........I did not reboot the Tivo after changing to 'failsafe' timing.
I just tried it again and the double socket download worked!
The download speed seems slow at 0.95...
Hi Peter,
Tried changing from optimal to failsafe and it still failed on double socket transfer.
The tserver output shows:
Telneting to the TIVO...
Connecting to '192.168.1.13'...
