I was wondering if anyone has their tivo hooked up to a foxtel iq cable box, or specifically the Pace TDC460NF.4.1
If so is the device compatible with any of the known IR sets?

half an education in capturing tivo ir codes and updating the ir database later and all is working
i wasnt sure on the procedure for uploading the resulting srt5066.tcl for others to use, but...
Thanks for the input guys. So far I'm trying out the create an IR tcl thingy.
The newer iSliceCreater method wouldn't execute with message ..
[TiVo [p1] /hack/etc/ircodes]# ./irSliceCreator.sh...
Guided setup went through ok except for IR test. Either the device is IR incompatible (in which case I can try the customer IR guides) or the absence of illumination on the IR blaster is the problem....
I found guided setup in the system restart menu and am progressing through it. Fingers crossed the IR issue comes out in the wash :)
I'd like to change my 2nd input program source from foxtel digital to a strong srt5066 digital stb.
Per the FAQs I've been trying to execute guided setup and follow the instructions in...
Thanks a lot for looking into it Pete, much appreciated.
It's an interesting idea using a second fvg318 as a bridge, I'll check that out. If that doesn't work I may be able to vpn to it - though...
I've done this a bit backwards - I bought a tivo (tks rob and darren). All is working, and I'm loving it. It has a wired ethernet port and is updating nicely via a connection to my switch. Albeit...
Pete, It's entirely possible I'm a compulsive horder ;p
tks for your tips too :)
Thanks a lot for the info, I don't really know what I want yet, but I'll try a TiVo to get started and see how I go. I'm just thinking ahead trying to anticipate needs and potential solutions.
80GB at 14Mbps = 13 hr if i calc correctly
near 2 hours at 100Mbps
tolerable
are those the sort of numbers you guys are finding when archiving?
forget usb2 speed, you'd still be limited by presumably as high as ata100..
don't know if hobotivo's 80 or 160 or both support ata100 though.
I wonder if you could cut out a usb port out the back and install inside an ata to usb interface inside, then just plug the laptop in and suck it down at usb2 bandwidth.
You would probably...
good plan, tks a lot
Do any of the known tivo/lancard configurations include a lan card with Gigabit support?
I was thinking this would be nice for archiving material collected on the unit effeciently.
Firstly apologies if this topic has already been discussed. Feel welcome to point me to a relevant thread if it has.
I can see huge benefits to the TiVo, and don't get me wrong for wondering this...
Thanks Darren, I understand the nature of the TiVo, but I can't profess to understand the dependency between staying current with "images" and channels as yet.
How often and why are these images...
I'm thinking I'll get a TiVo and hook it up, but this doesn't sound real great.
Is it possible to go back to the older "image" that has proven to be stable if I buy a new unit from the US?
