I’d prefer some way of keeping the fix “on demand” some way. I’m still receiving unmodded TiVo’s for conversion believe it or not!

Correct you’ll lose all recordings and the MAK (if it has one) if the hard drive is put in another TiVo.
Yes the problem is RAM and is absolutely repairable but will require extremely precise...
No sorry mate. I know we briefly touched on it early in the mod stages but that’s all I know.
Unfortunately I had almost no involvement in this one. Pretty much software related which I can’t do. Matt gets the credit for that! Maybe one day but I’ve got plenty of other things on my plate that...
It?s also mentioned on the Whirlpool Forums, and my website also links to this thread now from a message on the front page.
Also selfish plug: you might notice in my signature and on the website...
That’s great work. I’ll update my website FAQ section shortly to point to this thread rather than the other one, and alert those who have asked me via email.
I actually get people regularly email me asking to come BACK to TiVo after being disappointed with Fetch. I run both and fix both now so no bias here.
Personal taste I guess. [shrugs]
Start at 0000 and go all the way to 9999. Serious. I've never found where it is stored nor can you disable it without first having to get into them menu via the PIN to disable it.
We've been emailing the last couple of days. Any TiVo I get on my bench which has a MAK gets returned with a CD in one of those paper envelopes taped to the bottom of the TiVo with the WinMFS backup...
Hey Matt
Oddly enough I don't have the issue so can't help directly. I've had a couple of people comment via email if someone was working on it so I'll point them here.
Great work on it too!
11.3b10

Yes. A TiVo with 11.3b8 software needs to have a program called Ticketmaster running. I'll bet the times it says it does not have guide data the TiVo has booted and you see the message in red text...
If you have a MAK key (home networking package) then I *strongly* suggest you use WinMFS to make a .tbk backup regardless of what you do. Once you lose that unique software on your TiVo (ie a hard...
No this is it.
Is your existing TiVo using wired Ethernet or a wireless adaptor to connect to your modem? If wireless did you ensure the wireless network name and password is correct when doing guided setup?
The only thing to bear in mind is if you wanted to simply swap hard drives the donor TiVo needs to also be modded otherwise the hard drive won’t have the software patches to make it get guide data....
TiVos don’t run on windows
When a TiVo has not had successful connection for a couple of days it takes a while for guide data and to do list to return.
In regards to volunteering welcome! I’d just start a subject thread....
I’ve been trying to encourage people to use the forums for ages but not because of the mailing list but because like with today’s problem I wake up to a ton of emails (I work night shift), which is...
You using your capital city postcode and not your local one?
Are you running winmfs as an administrator? (Right mouse click run as administrator)
If not that’s the usual problem for not seeing a hard disk blank or not.
It’s not motherboard.
Maybe David Keegel can access the server and see if the logging from your connection attempt shows anything.
No problem posting it here. I'd rather see them go to someone than just landfill given TiVo has many years left in it. I'm sure someone will be happy to take them off your hands.
That's a great procedure mate thanks for sharing.
I'll also point out to people that if your TiVo has a MAK and you haven't made a backup of the software with WInMFS then DO IT NOW.
MAK enabled...
Simply cloning the had disk may be copying across bad data causing the issue to be replicated on your cloned copy.
The correct way is to load up another hard disk with a known good image. If you...
