It doesn't look like it is running which would explain a lot (but not why it's not running).

David
I am not sure that emuProxy2 has downloaded down correctly.
Try downloading it using Firefox 3 and FTP it across using one of the FTP apps, either should do the job, I know WinSCP will do it. Copy it across using rw and ro commands, I trust you are familiar with these by now.
I think you should be able to run the line
/hack/bin/emuProxy2 -s 210.48.107.133 -p 8000 &
and again
ps ax | grep emuProxy2
to see if it has started again.
Rebooting might be required though.
I also note the line in my file is
emuProxy2 -s 210.48.107.133 -p 8000 &
so that might be required however I would have thought both should work.
David - Done that but almost no change. I note the file size is unchanged from 25300 btyes whether downloaded by IE, Firefox, or the file you sent me directly.
The "almost" is that when I ran your comand first (ie before ps aux) it came up with a result. But when I ran ps aux, it still didn't appear to be there and rerunning ps ax | grep emuProxy2 produced no result again. Almost as if running ps aux caused emuProxy2 to stop running. That doesn't make any sense to me, but what do I know? I'll retest in the morning.
David
What was the result David?
Also following rebooting?
Here it is. NB I always reboot before running GS (unless just changing parameters but have those pretty well sussed by now).

Again note that running ps aux changes result of running ps ax.
David
There should be nothing in grep that causes emuProxy to disappear, but I can't offer an explanation as to why this is happening.
Try this to see if mfs_ftp disappears:
ps ax
ps ax | grep mfs_ftp
ps ax
On a side note, apart from the anecdotal evidence of a proxy due to the change of ISP's have any tests been done to confirm a proxy? It would be very rare for an ISP to proxy port 8000.
Peter.
Pete, did you mean ps aux for the first and last commands, or does it amount to the same thing. Not knowing anything about Unix, I have no idea what the differences are.
Also, no, no tests have been run to see if Vodafone is running a proxy on port 8000. I don't really understand even what that means but would appreciate being pointed towards guidance on how to test it.
David
Sorry, could you type each line and then press enter, and list the results, I have added a few more in there to test for a proxy.
ps ax
ps ax | grep mfs_ftp
ps ax
route
traceroute -p 21 210.48.107.133
traceroute -p 8000 210.48.107.133
ntpdate -v -b 210.48.107.133
Some of these tests take a while to complete, just wait until you are retuned to a prompt.
Peter.
Ok. I have Rebooted, set Pal NTSC to PAL (only way I can get back into standard menu), Deleted & Cleared everything, Rebooted, run a GS, and then run your commands from Putty. Here are the results:
