NTSC VHS tape to DVD

Perhaps way off topic but maybe not. (if too off topic mods please delete)

Turns out I bought two of the refurbished Philips series 1's as pictured in my "Newbie first try - success!" post. I still have one "in the box" that I will eventually fully OzTivo. In the interim I'm thinking about using it sorta as-is to do a bunch of NTSC VHS tape transfers to DVD. Of course I'll add a network card so;

Would it be easier to use the OzTivo build, somehow turning off the PAL mod, or finding some other build that addresses adding network card support, killing initial call home requirements, adding additional software, etc..?

Load on OzTiVo, do the Guided Setup as an A/V input, run through all the procedures as you normally would for setting up a PAL TiVo.

When all has completed then access TiVoWEB+ and put the TiVo into NTSC mode and reboot.
