HD decoder to use with Tivo

Does anyone have any experience with recording on Tivo using a HD set top box as input?

I have done this using an Extra Terrestrial box and it has been unsuccessful.

The ET box is too unstable and I have been unable to capture the IR commands (it's a dodgy box, it took a firmware update when new to even to get the remote to work reliably).

I'm looking for any recommendations or any "keep away from box x" type of info.

If I don't hear anything by Wednesday I'm off to see my favourite Harvey Norman salesman to buy a box on appro.
