You *are* replacing the TIVOIPADDRESS bit of that command with the actual IP address of your TiVo?
yep - was putting: ftp://192.168.1.10/var/log/tclient
into internet explorer. It just crashed the browser....
Sam
Mine actually returns the file on the screen ( Bless you Vista for making things non-standard as usual ). So, may I suggest trying Firefox as a browser to do the trick.
If it does put the text on the screen, just copy and paste that into a txt file and then upload that.
Works on IE6 for me.
The other alternative would be to use an FTP program like smartftp to copy the file from the TiVo to your PC.
Peter.
Downloaded firefox, looks more promising (as in it doesn't crash) - but still no file... It just sits there with the logo in the top corner spinning. How long should it take?
Sam
Should take only a couple of seconds.
Hmm,
can I use Putty to FTP the file? I'll have a search through the boards before I ask how to FTP it. Cheers guys,
Sam
*EDIT* Cant find anything obvious on how to ftp a file back from the tivo - only how to ftp files to it.... Any links?
Use an FTP program as has been suggested in previous replies by other's. Personally I use FlashFXP but there's tons of FTP applications out there.
Hmm, downloaded flashfxp. It says that it connects to my tivo's address, but its not bring up any files in its window. Then eventually it says connection failed.
Do I have to connect on a particular port? Or put in a username at all?
This must suggest something up the creek with my tivo's setup???
