I'm in the same boat so it's not just you.
Well, semi good to know :-)
For what it's worth, I would be happy to provide an alternate host site for the guide data as a back up (for manual downloads) if it would help in these situations (though it would appear that since the emulator has no data either then this may not help in this particular case...)
Cheers
Neil
*bumpiety* *bump* :(
me too
I'm more than happy to test... if I can get it set up and working. I'm still pretty clueless at loading slices etc. I'm setting up for the dev emulator now but it says it will take an hour to clear the empty to do list and almost empty program data....
Do let us know how you go with it - sounds interesting!
I on the otherhand will be patient and wait for a fix to the current issue - which I hope is coming soonish :-)
I changed the IP in the config file and ran a daily call but it downloaded really fast and there's no data there. I got a nzTiVo welcome message but that seems to be it. Well i'm off to New World to get a TV Guide I guess. ;)
What is your postcode set to ... looks like 02115 (saturn yes?) to me so the emulator hasn't advertised a slice to you. Can you confirm and I'll build a slice for that postcode.Quote:

What about manually downloading it on your PC (mac?) and ftp'ing (binary mode) it across to your /tmp/ directory. then type
dbload30.tcl nzdev.slice
May work better...
When that's done, you may want to force an index by typing:
cd /var/hack/bin
tivosh force_index.tcl
Good luck.
Try again ...Quote:

Looking better now. It's doing the loading data thing ATM. I'll force an index afterwards too.
Finished loading data. Looks good. All the programming is there up to around mid-day Thursday. :) Was quite a painless process. I'll post any problems etc in the other thread. Thanks for your help with this.
Only thing missing is Discovery T&A channel but that will be because Sky doesn't have it. I also didn't back up the Season Passes and Wishlists that are all gone now so if you are setting it up it's a good idea to back them up first.
and it looks OK, I'm missing a couple of channels completely (geographic, BBC, TCM & MGM i think) but a lot better than nowt!
I spot checked a bit with the listener and couldn't find any faults.
Good suggestion to mirror the slice file MrGadget, why don't you just set up to grab it every day so if the main site falls over there will at least be a slice available even if a day old... (Was good to catch up on Fri at the bard BTW, the big wide world must be agreeing with you...!)
I've switched to the nzdev slices on orac as well.
It looks very good, I have data for all the sky channels.
I had backed up my season passes etc using tivowebplus and restored them afterwards, (I had to remap the channels in the restore, it defaulted to CNN) but it didn't pickup any of the upcoming shows in the todo list.
Either you must reindex or something like that or something in the passes doesn't match.
I recreated a season pass from the tivo remote interface and that picked up the incoming shows.
So, not a big thing but something to be aware of.
Also can anybody using the data on orac try the grid in the web interface, mine now fails as follows:
INTERNAL SERVER ERROR
--cut here--
action_grid '/' ''
called "sue_wochandata" with too many arguments
while executing
"sue_wochandata $chan $fsid $minseconds $maxseconds $callsign $stationfsid $filler $columnWidth"

Mine seems to work fine while using dev. I'm using the 3.0 image default version "TiVo Web Project - TCL v1.9.4"Quote:

As for the dump from grid, I've only seen that while the tivo is still indexing.

Hi,
Just wondering if me (as a very novice TIVO'er) should just wait for things to right themselves with the help of the Gods I call "TIVO data creator people" or should I be doing this whole Dev slice thing?
backing up lists etc sounds a bit scary, but I don't have many so I could rebuild.
But if the emulator is likely to have a working slice in the next 24 - 48 hours I can hang out for that I guess.
Any ideas TIVO data creator gods/people?
Cheers
Bruce
Ok, so as many have noted, Timmy's site is down. The main emulator (not the devel one) pulls the data from Timmy's site, so if it's down the emulator gets no data. I've sent notes to Timmy and Jaidev to see what we can sort out. One option would be for Jaidev to upload direct to the emulator, so that may be the solution if Timmy's site is going to be down for a bit. I'll advise as as soon as I hear anything from either of 'em(if they don't post it here as well).
Meanwhile, as has been noted, the dev emulator seems to work, but will hose any existing season passses and such, and appears to be a relatively big jump. So it's your call what you wan't to do... I'm aware of the issue an on it, but largely dependent upon at least Jaidev (if it's decided to just upload the slices direct) and possibly Timmy (if the current situation stays the same).
If it would help, I could setup another emulator on orac for the live stuff (ie: non development) now that I know how to do that.
The data/slices would have to be uploaded by somebody though.
Wouldn't make any difference at the moment... Problem is slice supply to the emulator. The emu is happily chugging away, but there's no data to feed it for distribution.
Could DJC's slices on orac be converted to work with the current emulator, so it matches the current setups.
The actual data is there and works (that's what I am currently using).
Dunno... If the channels are the same format, it would at least populate something, though the series IDs and such would be hosed (and therefore season passess and such would likewise be hosed). Any idea if it's using the same channel IDs?
Problem here is that I use a slightly different method to build the slices since I'm pullng data from the soon to be 'community' database ... and as a result have a different set of episode, series and program numbers in the slice file.
I can quickly deliver a set of intermediate files for jaidev whilst timmy is offline.
Yes, spot on Ed, channel ids are same .. the dev emulator is currently running same headends as the main/your emulator and all guide data channel's match this. See previous post on progs/series records and episode numbers.Quote:

If that's the case, is there any benefit to doing this over swapping to the dev slice ?Quote:

I just made a call - "Failed. Service unavailable". :(
Finally time to make the switch to the emulator??

Did you change the ip address in loadguide.conf to the new (temporary) server?Quote:

Hi,
I guess I'm not the only one who came out of the last week with NO data at all - then getting data on Mon/Tues but with TV3 running out at 11am today (thursday)....And I just noticed I have nothing on discovery also but I have data on other channels as far ahead as Sunday.
Hoping Friday's slice will add TV3 and Discovery back into the mix !
Cheers
Bruce
No, there were some issues with data last week (on the main emulator), fixed apparently on Monday. I currently have guide data for all channels, with at least channels 2&3 going through to Tuesday next week.
Perhaps you should try manually downloading the data for the time being.
Thanks for thje advice. Yeah I got what looked like all channel data on Monday but TV3 just ran out early while other channels have data for longer periods.
Being a complete unix novice and a happy emulator user....
Do I just FTP the file from Orac and get it onto my Tivo. THen run some command to load that file?
I will take a look at the NZ Tivo site and hopefully there is a HowTo..
I did load the NoNag Slice a few months back but forgotten how I did it !!
And lastly, if I load the odd slice manually it won't effect future (eg: Tomorrow/Friday's) emulater slice grab?
Cheers
Bruce
Telnet your tivo
wget the nztivo.slice can do it from the tmp dir or other location if you have a slice dir etc.
Will do the trick for you.Code:cd /tmp
wget 210.48.107.133/slice/nztivo.slice
/hack/bin/dbload30.tcl ./nztivo.slice
Manual load of slice should not affect future emulator ops. Its a slice so the next slice will load in sequence (its slice number will be > than current).
