Would it not be possible to take the HD signal boradcasted in all major Australian which is in PAL run it through a device the converts the signal to NTSC and record from there?
The Hughes unit is for DirecTV via satellite, and although it also accepts OTA boradcasts it does not decode the Australian Digital system and does not have any other inputs so you could use a separate STB and format convertor.
