I wish someone would put step-by-step instructions to change US Tivo to AU or EU. If there are optional features, it would tell. Recommended features, why they are used, etc.
I know there are instructions all over OzTivo but they are all confusing for someone who is new to this thing. I wish someone would do this with plain English and make it easy for most of us, at least for me :)

TIVO IN AUSTRALIA
All of the above benefits are available via Tivo in Australia. Be warned -- it is not a consumer item. To get your Tivo functional you'll need to know how to open computers and connect hard disks, configure serial/ethernet connections, use command-line functions and cope with difficulties. There's no customer service, no warranties and no guarantees that it will keep functioning. A Tivo should be treated as an expensive toy with no promises attached.

I don't want to sound stand-offish but consider yourself lucky. Until the Guided Setup images were developed early this year the setting up of a TiVo involved a LOT of manual editing and loading of things. Now (provided you have a turbonet card and a suitable internet connection) you image your hard disk, pop it in the TiVo and it does most of it for you :)
Like elarbee has pointed out already, a TiVo is NOT designed to be an item for Mr Joe Average in Australia. You need to have some wits about you to run one. Having said that it is not that hard and help is abundant.
