tytools

Hi,

I am trying to install tytools to one of my Tivo's.

I am following the instructions at : http://minnie.tuhs.org/twiki/bin/view/Videoextract/DownloadVideoUsingTytool

My problem seems to be under section 5:

Edit the "rc.sysinit.author" file on the Tivo side. You should be able to do this through your FTP client

I cannot edit/delete or replace this file as it comes up: Read Only File System.


Can anybody help?

Did you telnet into the TiVo and type "rw" to make it read/write as it says in section 4? If not do that first and then "ro" to change it back to read-only when you're done.

I couldn't get into it via Telnet with the XP client so couldn't do that at the time.

I have just downloaded PuTTY and connected as it should have all along.

The tyTool thing works a treat. Excellent
