Tivo and No internet

Hi,

I have just joined the Tivo world and I am waiting for it to arrive in the mail. I have imaged the HDD ready to be installed. I am curious to know if it is necessary for an interent connection to be present when I install the HDD. I dont have ADSL and I am having trouble getting Internet Connection Sharing to work on my home network with dial up. I understand I won't be able to use it with the TV guide aspect of things but until ADSL is available (few months) I just want to use it as a video recorder.

Can it be set up without internet or I should I find a friends house to set it up at?

Yes. You will need the Internet to complete Guided Setup. Take it to a friends house like you suggest. After that yes you can just do manual recordings without the need for the Internet.
