Hi folks,

For some reason I'm not able to Repeat Guided Setup from the System Reset menu.

After pressing the Thumbs Down 3 times followed by Enter I get the Welcome to Tivo screen. However, when I press Select to start the process I get dumped back into the Tivo Central screen.

Note: I'm trying to Repeat the Guided Setup b/c there is no Guide Data or Channel information. I was away for six weeks and Tivo was unable to make a daily call due to the Intertnet connection being shut down.

Your comments are appreciated.

Thanks... Tom

Hi Tom. You don't have to repeat Guided Setup to regain attaining Guide Data. Have you forced a daily call from TiVoWEB, and have you checked that your clock is not warped?

Anyway if you REALLY want to go down the road of redoing Guided Setup then what you are describing is normal for the OzTiVo image. Remember: The OzTiVo image is ONLY a hack of the USA V3.0 TiVo operating system and therefore there are quite a few items in the on-screen menus that simply do not work here. I wish I had a dollar every time someone asked about not being able to repeat GS as I'd almost be able to retire :)

To redo Guided Setup from the TiVo menu you have to follow a few extra steps first:

1. Gain access to TiVoWEB by pointing your web browser at the IP address of the TiVo

2. Go to the PAL/NTSC tab

3. From within this menu pick "Set PAL Guided Setup Mode"

4. Reboot TiVo

5. When you get the main menu appear on the TiVo, go into "Messages And Setup" and then "System Reset" then "Repeat Guided Setup"

Then follow the instuctions here:

As you have found out you cannot simply skip directly to step 5. It does not work while your TiVo is in normal operating mode, only in "Maintenance Mode". You can try, but you will keep getting kicked back to the main menu as you are now aware from already trying it this way.

Thanks Darren,

It worked like a charm. My dollar is in the mail.
