It's not just the oztivo & tvguide webpages either, I can't get in via ssh.

Unfortunately Warren is away until Monday night.

I don't know if anyone else has physical access to the server.

Umm.. I have physical access to minnie... but I'm sure Warren will send me to /dev/null if I touch her... After having just (yesterday) got my parents onto TiVo I now have to answer to the 'To be announced' messages.. eek!

I haven't discussed a local option with Warren, but seeing SSH is down it's unlikely a local login will work. Don't think much else can be done but reset the unit.

I guess we will have to wait till Warren returns tonight, and hopefully gets minnie back up tomorrow. Maybe then see what can be done in the future, if Warren is absent.

Isn't this also an issue if Warren were hit by a GC bus or eaten by a shark? - God forbid

Wouldn't a mirror be a good idea?

I'm not sure if this has been considered in the past, 'cept for Brian offering some hosting when Martijn was doing his/the TVGuide.

Just my $0.0220 inc GST

It was discussed after minnie went down in May (or June) 2004, but since that time minnie was up for the next 359 days until she was shutdown when the new minnie was installed. So the need did not appear that great and nothing came of the discussion.

We have had 2 outages in the last two months, not bad considering how much new software was loaded into this minnie. But I do agree it's worth considering building a mirror and possibly in a different location.

Indeed she is, no shell access either.

I'll call for an ambulance...

Even though I haven't been able to access the Online Community TV guide (at http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/tvguide.pl) since before 6pm, my daily call at 6:45pm worked, so perhaps it's only some of its programs that are not running, rather than the whole machine being down.

Yep your right, further investigation reveals minnie is fine.

@minnie ~ $ uptime
12:48AM up 1 day, 6:57, 2 users, load averages: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

So it looks like it may be a routing or DNS issue

Just replace http://minnie.tuhs.org/ with http://131.244.9.101/ and all pages are working fine.

eg homepage http://131.244.9.101/twiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome &
tvguide http://131.244.9.101/tivo-bin/tvguide.pl
