Hi, Just recently I have noticed errors in the guide date consistently ie Shanghai Triad has been starting at 12am on ABC in the guide for the last few nights but it is most definately correctly Rage.

Has anything changed recently?

edit - I notice that DavidH posted a while ago with what looks like the same problem ie http://forums.oztivo.net/showthread.php?t=628

Why is the guide data replicating Monday 11th's data over multiple days at some times of the day?

Hi Mark

Depending on when the last time you visited the oztivo website (that's the website www.oztivo.com and not these forums) you may or may not have noticed that the guide data is no longer automatically supplied week after week and now requires people to actually go and fill in the blanks. If there is no action on the missing data then there either won't be any or it may be incorrect. It may also be incorrect if someone has not entered the data correctly in which case it can be corrected by anyone who notices an error. Warren Toomey did post on the email group list on the 2nd of July this statement:

All, I think the issue that people are having with no guide data is caused by
the fact that, for some FTA stations, there is no guide data. Have a look at
the gap report at the bottom of http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/tvguide.pl

I am trying to find some data to fill the gaps. Please note, however,
that there are no guarantees that data will be supplied. Also, I see my
role these days as building and maintaining the tvguide.pl system to
produce TiVo guide slices, and my role is no longer to collect the data.
So, if there is no data, it's because nobody uploaded it :)

Warren

Essentially it means the onus is now on the TiVo community to help supply guide data. If that does not happen then there simply won't be any.

Thanks Darren.

Now for my next question.

I have just downloaded SDE1.9m and attempted to fix some gaps and errors in the upcoming Nine-Qld for Thursday. When I was finished I had a file called QTQ9_Thursday_14_July which I then tried to upload but was refused with the error of 'Station QTQ9 does not exist'

What is the problem here as I would like to help to keep the database up to date.

edit - okay Don't worry about the above for some reason the Station name had changed in the file.

Third question - How long does it take until an upload is visible in the TV-Guide?

24 hours usually.

Adding to what Darren said,

It will be shown immediately in http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/tvguide.pl but will not be made into a slice until roughly between 4-6pm EST each day.

It will then be loaded into your TiVo when it next calls home after the new slices are made.

Peter.

That's what I thought would be the case but the upload did not show immediately in http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/tvguide.pl

ie there are still gaps for Thu 14 Jul, 2005 > Nine-Qld despit me using SDE1.9m and uploading the file. Why is that the case?

edit Or does it take 24hours for uploads to appear on http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/tvguide.pl ?

No it should appear right away if it's accepted.

What message do you receive after you upload?

Are you just uploading the data that is missing or are you including data in your SDE file that is already there.

You cannot change existing data without deleting it first.

Peter.

The message was that the data was accepted or something similar. I was uploading the whole days info.

So is it possible to just add the missing info using SDE and the upload page?

edit - and if I put all the data in for the whole day will it accept just the missing data (ala fill in the gaps) or will it ignore all the data (ie to add the whole days data I would need to delete the whole days current info?

and once I upload the data do I then need to also use the web interface to fill the gaps?

Yes, an SDE can be a short as only one program if you want. But to work, it must be used to fill a gap.

It will fill the gaps with new data.

Where the new data differs from the existing data it will be ignored

Where the data is identical, it will confirm and lock-in the existing data (assuming you did not upload it originally).

Not sure what you mean here, there should be no gaps showing if you have uploaded data to fill them.

Peter.
