I've read the "CanTivoPlayMp3s" twiki (http://minnie.tuhs.org/twiki/bin/view/FAQ/CanTiVoPlayMp3s). I've gotten madplay working but it only works from the command line.

I've gone to the two threads mentioned in the twiki re OHM. After downloading the S1 version (with the fixed exe too), I don't know how to install it. I searched the 26 page long thread along with the Deal Database forums but cannot find *any* instructions for installing it!

Anyone else got it working? I'm unsure as to where to upload the zip file that contains the files and what to do after that.

It sounds like some people have had mixed results with it, and that it's been discontinued without the author bothering to release the source code. I like the idea of mp3 playback on it over an NFS share!!

Hi John,

I managed to get it going a while ago (I've since reimaged that TiVo). The package includes a README which says (in part):

Installation Notes ================================================== ==========
-Included in the binary are four files {vserver, ohm, ohm.cfg}

1. Create /var/hack/ohm/

2. Copy the install files to /var/hack/ohm/
{ ohm, ohm.cfg }

3. Copy helper files to /var/hack/ohm
{ jpegwriter, libm.so, madplay }

4. You will need to install "vserver" on every TiVo that you want to stream
from. You can replace the mplayer vserver (if you use it) with this new
version. The startup script is most likely /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit
-Set the environment variable VSERVER_NAME in your startup script
with a descriptive name of your TiVo such as
export VSERVER_NAME="Office TiVo"
-Add "vserver&" to your startup script

5. You will need to install "ohm" and "ohmstart.sh" on every TiVo that you
want to stream to. The startup script is most likely /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit
-Add "/var/hack/ohm/ohmstart.sh&" to your startup script

6. Reboot your TiVo (or start vserver and ohm manually).

7. Press [ThumbsUp] from TiVo Central and OHM should start up.HTH.

Cheers, Dave.

Cheers. Got it up and running. Pretty impressive. Not to get the SAMBA map to work! :)
