Cannot access the "record by time" menu

I have just set up my Sony SVR-2000 with the OZ TiVo image, and
adjusted the settings to skip the guided setup (I just want to use
the TiVo as a VCR) by allowing the fixup30.tcl script to run.
My TiVo boots nicely, but I am unable to access the "record by
time and channel" menu (I just get a drum sound).
Of course this is the main menu that I would use (as a VCR), so
I am rather stuck.

Any thoughts or ideas would be welcome.

This is probably since you have skipped guided setup and there are no channels, nor inputs turned on. You cant set manual recordings if there's no channel or input set up!

At last I went ahead and connected the TiVo to my PC (and to
the internet), so I was able to run the guided setup.
This solved the problem.
