Hi All,
Brief intro - I'm Neil from Christchurch. Got into Tivo just over a month ago (August 2004) after reading Matt Cooney's article in FFWD. Picked it up from Eksys.com (thanks George) and had it in about 4 days :-)
Since then two of my work mates have also purchased (one just on Friday).
I'm quite PC literate, but very much a newbie when it comes to Tivo and Linux.
I decided to document my set up with pictures to help any other newbies (see www.b8s.co.nz/tivo.htm - hey, I'm no web designer either) - I find it helps to know what to expect after typing some string like "mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 mnt/fd0" which meant absolutely nothing to me at the time.
I've been playing so now have email notifications on the TV screen, and tested caller display to the TV as well (would you believe a $19 Pragmatic Modem will do the job...), and have added a number of excellent Tivoweb modules (display text, manual record, daily mail etc).
