View Full Version : Summary of Regional Channels with missing guide data

I am aware of the following channels which should have guide data but apparently they don't display on tivos in the relevant region:
S3-Gippsland-PRIME7HD (set up but not working for unknown reason) see http://forums.oztivo.net/showthread.php?2858-Prime7-HD-EPG-data-(Channel-60) (http://http://forums.oztivo.net/showthread.php?2858-Prime7-HD-EPG-data-(Channel-60))
S3-CoffsHarbour-PRIME7HD (tivoid unknown)
S3-Ballarat-PRIME7HD (set up but not working for unknown reason) see http://forums.oztivo.net/showthread.php?2858-Prime7-HD-EPG-data-(Channel-60)
S3-RegionalWA-GWN7 (set up but not working for unknown reason) see http://forums.oztivo.net/showthread.php?2867-Regional-WA-Issues&p=18682

No guide data is set up at OzTiVo for audio-only channels (ABC Jazz, Double J, SBS Radio, SBS Arabic24) or shopping channels (like Aspire, SpreeTV, Extra, TVSN, Gold) anywhere in Australia.

If you are aware of any channels not listed above where your tivo (in Australia) does not get guide data but should, then please reply to this thread.

I will probably need your help to get the tivoid for the channel in your region (by running station_debug.tcl on your tivo) because for almost all of the channels which are not set up yet, we don't have tivoid information (which is necessary to set up the channel at OzTiVo).

Also, if I've mis-remembered, mis-understood or just missed the status of known not-working guide data channels, please reply, so I can update the list in this post.
(If there are missing channels in metro areas, feel free to include those too.)

Hello David, I've moved to Rural WA (6707) from Perth.

Those numbers for /Server/ match the tivoid numbers in our oztivo database for the region called RegionalWA, at least for the 10 or so channels I checked (including GWN7).
So I don't see anything new I can add to oztivo, or any other quick fix.

Maybe start a new thread for regional WA, there is at least one other regional WA person on these forums. It might help if you compare notes about which channels you do get guide data for and see if there are common factors.

Ok, thanks for checking, so are you saying there's an issue my end then?

Seems odd I have other regional channels such as WIN but not GWN7.

I've started a new thread http://forums.oztivo.net/showthread.php?2867-Regional-WA-Issues&p=18682#post18682

I have an idea which may help for new channels (like Prime7 HD) set up in the last few months.
But it will take me at least a few days to work out how I can test it (and I need to be careful because if I mess something up it could break all oztivo guide data for Australia, so testing is very important).
I will reply here if/when I have it in a state where other people can test (probably by changing dial code or by changing postcode, redoing guided setup).

In the mean time, if you are aware of changes to channels in the last 6 months (especially new channels) apart from Prime7 HD, please reply here.

Hello David, thank you for all the work you have been putting into the OzTiVo guide (and thanks to any others working behind-the-scenes).

... the following channels which should have guide data ... in the relevant region:
S3-Gippsland-7flix (tivoid unknown) ...
I have 3 x S3 TiVos in Gippsland modified by Darren (another vote of many thanks) and I am receiving the guide for 7flix.

Today I fixed a problem that meant S3-Mildura-Nine and S3-Griffith-Nine were missing.
(See http://forums.oztivo.net/showthread.php?2858-Prime7-HD-EPG-data-(Channel-60)&p=18783#post18783 and two previous posts)

There are 4 other channels with similar problems:
Broken Hill - SC10
Central Coast - NBN
Central Coast - PRIME7
Darwin - 9Life
and some other Darwin channels (Education TV, Larrakia TV, TV NT, Tourism TV) with possibly similar-ish problems.

Can anyone in NSW Central Coast or Darwin comment on whether those are channels you are missing but care about?

I looked further into this, and I have added Broken Hill SC10 and Darwin 9Life, so they will be visible from tomorrow (March 26).
I think those Central Coast stations may be duplicates of Newcastle stations.
And it turns out I don't have useful guide information for those extra Darwin stations (like Education TV), just 4 hour blocks which say "Local Programming".

We (OzTiVo S3) currently don't have any guide info in the database for:
* Lismore NSW
* Mandurah WA (GWN7 only)
* Regional NT
* Remote and Central ???
* Riverland SA
* South Coast NSW
* South East SA
* Spencer Gulf SA
* Wide Bay Qld

Are there known people with TiVos in any of those areas? If so, I can investigate whether we can get guide data for that area.

Hi David, My parents have a modded Tivo in the Wide Bay area. They're technically challenged, but I should be able to walk them through it. What information do you need?

Does Wide Bay get the same TV broadcasts as Maryborough?
(Bonus question: what about Sunshine Coast and Maryborough?)

If so, I think I can configure some more channels (& stuff) and then you can see whether guide data starts appearing after that.

PS: If there is someone around Sunshine Coast with a tivo reading this, can you remind me whether Sunshine Coast guide data works? Also (if so) keep an eye on whether your Sunshine Coast guide data keeps working over the next few days, because there is a chance I might mess with Sunshine Coast as part of this and it would be good for me to know if there is a problem before all your guide data expires.

Maryborough is right in the middle of Wide Bay, fairly sure it's serviced from Mt Goonaneman. I suspect Sunshine Coast will be receiving from a different location.

Hi David,
Darren King has contacted me to assist if possible. We are in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast and if I interpret this correctly you are wanting someone to monitor our TiVo?s channel reception capability.

We currently receive programming for Brisbane?s Chanel 7, 9, 10, 2, and 3sbs, then there?s 73,73, 76, 78, 80,81, 82, 93 & 94.
Any other Channels say to be anounced.

Does this answer your question?
Happy to help

Maryborough is right in the middle of Wide Bay, fairly sure it's serviced from Mt Goonaneman. I suspect Sunshine Coast will be receiving from a different location.

For complicated reasons, I have set up Wide Bay channels as derived from Sunshine Coast, so Wide Bay will always see the same guide info for a given channel as Sunshine Coast does (if oztivo thinks Wide Bay gets that channel).
Given what ggc said, this is not ideal, but I expect it to be 99% right (assuming Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay rarely get different TV scheduling).

I also set up Spencer Gulf for Port Lincoln.

If you have a tivo in Wide Bay and/or Port Lincoln/Spencer Gulf please
(1) wait until after 2am April 21
(2) connect to TiVo Service (under Network Settings), or just wait for your tivo to do that itself about every 25 hours
(3) wait a few hours after that for program information to load, and indexing to happen
(4) report back whether you can see guide data for all/most/some/no channels (excluding radio channels, home shopping channels and SBN). Ideally tell us which channels you do/don't have guide data for.

Preliminary results from Wide Bay; ABC, SBS, Nine look correct. 7 and 10 appear to be showing Wednesday's schedule, but 70 is correct.
Should have more detailed response tomorrow.

Hi Everyone

Thanks all for all the hard keeping these Tivos going. Just wondering if its just me or are others missing New Zealand EPG data too? Apologies if this post is in the incorrect thread, the New Zealand TV Guide Issues thread (http://forums.oztivo.net/forumdisplay.php?20-New-Zealand-TV-Guide-Issues) has no activity (except my post).

The New Zealand guide data is done completely differently to Australian guide data (except the slices end up on the same server), so I have no visibility of that (except to see whether there are new NZ slices, which it looks like there are).
Sorry to hear New Zealand TV Guide Issues has no activity, but I think that is the right place (or at least somewhere which is NZ specific).

Hi David

I'm a complete TiVo newby who got one modded yesterday and tried to set it up. I'm at Sippy Downs which is just south of Buderim and as I understand it gets local channels from the Bald Knob transmitters and Brisbane relay from Mudjimba.

I tried setting it up with local postcode 4556 and got "Were sorry, no information exists about antenna channels in your area". I then tried 4558, with the same result. I then tried 4000, which populated (but took 3 and a half hours-is this normal?).

Should I be using Wide Bay instead. and if so, what is the postcode? Or should I try 4558 again, maybe it was down last night?

Your advice appreciated, many thanks.

All of Queensland should use postcode 4000 (for Guided Setup on series 3).
See https://www.oztivo.net/twiki/bin/view/S3FAQ/S3HowToKeepUsingTiVo or https://www.oztivo.net/twiki/bin/view/S3FAQ/S3MyTiVoHasWrongGuideData where it says which postcodes to use.
If/when that changes (other postcodes outside state/territory capitals are supported for series 3), I will update those twiki pages.
Rest assured, the guide data your tivo sees depends on what comes in from the antenna, it does not depend on the post code in guided setup at all (that might change in future, but not until after non-capital postcodes are supported).

It takes a very long time to do the initial download of guide data, and a fairly long time each day (although that is not so noticeable since it normally happens automatically).

Hello,

Sky News on WIN is now available regionally on Ch 83 (Ch 53 in Northern NSW/Gold Coast). Not sure if there are any plans to include guide data for this channel, but some may find it useful.

Cheers and thanks.
