Sorry I've been a bit busy, I can see data there and in the database, could be a headend issue.
Is the data still missing?

I have completed 2 phone calls, one after a Clear program Data and To Do List both result in no data for Tv3 or Tv3+1.

Yes same with me. Forced a call this evening (Sat 11pm) and still the same issue. Looks like a headend issue Wibble? Is this something that I can potentially help with - as I know you're no longer using TiVo yourself? And those remaining on TiVo really do appreciate your help ..

I've had a look but haven't resolved it yet. Basically there is TV3 data for Freeview but very little for Sky.
Will have another look tomorrow.

OK, I've changed to also use freeview TV3 listing for the Sky TV3, hopefully that will fix the issue after the slice build today. (ie: After 5pm)

Still seems to be a problem, I forced a call at around 8pm yesterday and still have no TV3 guide data.....btw, I'm using freeview postcode, not Sky...

I manage to inject some guide data in for TV3, so there exists a backup method that we developed many years ago.
In doing this I notice TIVODAY (what the TiVo uses to track the days from inception) is 16282. From memory the TIVO will crap out
at 16384. However this is from discussions in 2001, so it may not be correct. I hope I am mistaken!

nope, well we will find out 10th Nov. It may be that only some functionality of our import coding stops.

Hi - how does the backup method work? I'd be interested in giving it a go.

Hi
yes, I was thinking along those lines myself, until the emulator is fixed.
I need to write up a quick script first, that reformats the TV3 data (I've got the
data from my freeview card).
Then you just run a script we wrote (TVLoad.tcl), and point it at the tv3 data and
it inserts it. So all the data load runs on a local pc, no emulator needed.
But, really busy at the moment, flying to chch and back today. might try
Thur.
Cheers,
Divxmaster
p.s., as a bit of history, we bought the first 4 tivos to NZ, hence why we have a completely
different system and (now unused) image.

Well some progress,
For some reason I cant get data into TV3, but it will insert data into TV3+1.
I think I might have upset the database, as TV3 now shows nothing, not
even the 3 News Entries. TV3+1 However does show the 3 news entries and
the show I inserted as well. I inadvertently tried to put shows of 30 second duration
into TV3. Hopefully it will reset TV3 in a couple of days or when a new slice file comes
along.
So until then, we can wait, or if someone is desperate I can drag data into TV3+1,
so you can record from there.
Cheers,

Hi there are only two files, the tv3 data file and TVLoad.tcl. do you want me to email them, whats your email? or I can set
up a temporary email address, and you can email your address to me, for security reasons.

I'm guessing the clock is ticking to when we'll lose Series 1 tivo here in NZ..I have a NZ HD TiVo, but no UHF signal....is my only alternative MySky? Really don't want to go there!

series 1 will keep going for a while yet! I looked at mysky, and then looked closely at what channels sky offers in HD. Duh, its like virtually none. So really not that different to TiVo. I must admit I record freeview HD in mediaportal, but the TiVo beats mediaportal for its interface.

The TV3 guide data issue seems to be taking a long time to fix, that's what makes me wonder how much longer we'll have the brilliant service we've had for the last decade!

a bit of a good news update,
I was using epg collector to get freeview data for my pc, and just realised that it can grab
sky guide data from DVBS also. Did a test and got all the sky data!
So, what this means is that if I can find the time to hack up a quick vb prog to take
the xml data and put it into TiVo load format, then all data can be loaded this way.
This allows you to remove the default gateway from the TiVo, so it wont run the
daily call and overwrite the data. This is how we used to run our tivos.
Of course, I would prefer the emulator to be fixed.
anybody want this to happen?
That sounds good as cannot get the fix working for me. Now lost ESPN so if no fix will have to go to Sky+ and goodbye TiVo. Would be a pity after 14 years!

In case useful, I've put together a temporary workaround that auto-generates and loads TV1/2/3 data for TiVo following a daily call.
Instructions on how to download/install the scripts on your TiVo are available here (for now):
[edited: see latest post in http://forums.oztivo.net/showthread.php?2735-Guide-Data-Running-Out]
The process uses a script supplied by dieterm (thx!). Please post any fixes/suggestions here in this thread.
After many years of incredible service, it's about time I put something back. Hope this helps.

...well, it's not flawless.
Two days ago, after it's daily execution at 6am, we had good EPG data for TV1/2/3. Yesterday, we had EPG data for TV2/3, but not TV1. After this morning's run, TV2 is still OK, but not TV1/3. No idea what's going wrong, but it'll probably come right by itself in a day or two, if previous performance is anything to go by.
It's possibly something to do with the TiVo data - I noticed some strange character codes, e.g. British pound sign. If anyone knows that these are problematic, or spots other issues, pls let me know the details as it should be straightforward for me to fix the parser.
Thanks it is much appreciated. I only note that the upload file is tvguide-v001.tgz not tvguide-001.tgz but apart from that seems to work.

tvload.tcl doesn't mind bad characters as far as I am aware. It will just go onto the next entry anyway if it does. I haven't looked into your script, but are you putting all 1-2-3 data in the one input file? It doesn't like that. If the input file is too long, it will crap out. We fixed this by creating a separate file for each channel and running loaddata on each file.
Cheers.

Uncanny timing re the emulator, but ah well. At least I have a backup for future ref.
FWIW:

- the script prepares and loads one channel at a time (I saw the errors when I tried them all at once)
