Hi, i've purchased my parents a Tivo which they are connecting via HDMI to a 32" Sony Bravia.

Unfortunately they are getting intermittent loss of picture.

I've tried various picture settings, including 720p Fixed - unfortunately non of these seem to have made any difference.

I've just got them to swap the HDMI cable to see if this helps.

Any other ideas what else it could be?

Is there any pattern to the intermittent loss?

Does it make any difference if you *GENTLY* wiggle the HDMI connector on the back of the TiVo? I ask this one as HDMI sockets have been a known issue before with some not manufactured correctly and require re-soldering - or in your case if it is this that is the problem returning the TiVo for warranty replacement.

Thanks Darren. There doesn't seem to be a pattern that I can see. I've seen it flicker on both Live TV and recorded programmes. I've then hit rewind and the flicker is gone. It has also occurred again when the Tivo menu is displayed, so i'm sure it is nothing related to the antenna.

I've got the folks to swap out the HDMI cable for a brand new one, and so far so good.

I will get them to follow your advice and try wiggling the HDMI cable in the back of the tv to see if that helps. If not, I'll be returning the machine to the shop.
