Hi List,

I've just bought a DG-TEC 0810 which according to Andrew requires the Wintel IRCode 30070, whatever they are. I get a 404 on the link to http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/irdatabase.cgi.

I've searched the forum in vain. I've come close with http://www.oztivo.net/twiki/bin/view/Install/RedoGuidedSetup and http://oztivo.phoenixdigital.com/stb_browse.php but no definitive 'howto' as far as I can see.

Your help and advice will be much appreciated.

TIA

John

We moved servers many years ago. Where did you find the reference to minnie.tuhs.org?

Try http://www.oztivo.net/tivo-bin/irdatabase.cgi instead, or just redo Guided Setup and choose the wintel box from the menu.

Now I've had a look at the URL all is revealed http://oztivo.phoenixdigital.com/stb_browse.php

Thanks Peter

Ok, Thanks.

I'll get Cameron to update his site.

I hope this isn't dumb but after doing the setup again the Tivo and the STB are not in sync. When I change channel using the Tivo remote the Tivo responds but the TV/STB doesn't and the same happens when I use the STB remote the Tivo doesn't respond. I believe I followed the setup instructions to the letter but maybe not.

The STB will never control the TiVo, but should change channels on the STB.

Did you select the correct code? there is a DigiCrystal 8800 and a digicrystal 8800 code made by different people. You needed to select the first one to use 30070.

Is this your first STB used with TiVo? do you know how the IR blaster or wands work?

Ah! I followed "just redo Guided Setup and choose the wintel box from the menu".

I've started the setup again and got to the part where there's a Digicrystal Oztivo but only one of them. There's a DGTECH Oztivo before that but neither of them give me access to 30070, Peter.

I did set up a STB once but that was over 5 years ago and my memory isn't what it used to be. :-(

I'm travelling, so don't have a TiVo I can look at, but If you look at the list on http://www.oztivo.net/tivo-bin/irdatabase.cgi you will see that there are multiple boxes listed under the Wintel brand.

Once you select Wintel, you should be able to scroll though a list that either shows the model name or the code number of the box.

I changed my IR Blaster and rebooted the STB and its changing channels - yeh!

Thanks Peter.

It seems everything has bedded down over the long weekend. The remote works but slowly. Its not a major issue as I'm not using the ozTivo to watch TV, just record it.

Thanks for your help Peter.

It seems my problems are still with me :-(

I thought all was ok as I had some success in recording some shows but I now realise they were all on channel 2. When I set up the Tivo to record the golf this morning all I got was the ABCs breakfast show! Channel 2 is the channel the STB was on. Neither the Tivo remote or the programmed record choice is having any effect.

Thanks,

John

Originally you said the changes were working, but slow. This is normal as it needs to first listen to your remote commands, then covert them to suit your STB, then send them to the Blaster.

So are manual changes also not working? is the blaster working? You can look at it via a Digital camera/phone and see if it flashes.

I think I must have been mistaken as I've tried both blasters that I have and although the Tivo overlays the current tv program with the fact that the channel change request has been received the STB doesn't budge.

Is there a way of checking through telnet what is happening?

Thanks,

John

Did you check if your basters were actually working like I suggested in my last response?

I wasn't too sure what I was looking for but I looked at the blasters through my mobile's camera as I changed the channel with the Tivo remote and I didn't see anything with either of them plugged in, Peter.

Ok, if using your mobile or any other Digital camera, you should see the LED in the Blasters flicker when it is sending the data to change the channel.

To check if your camera works this way, do the same thing with any remote control and you should see the led flash when you press a button.

From the Sound of it your blasters are not working. Are you sure they are plugged into the IR socket. Also check the blaster at the front of your TiVo (also with your camera) to see if it flashes when trying to change channels.

If you still don't see any flashes, try changing to an IR code I know works like the "Hailo" brand, just so we can rule out any issue with the code you are using.

I checked my mobile's camera and it works. The blasters showed no sign of receiving anything. Yes the blasters were plugged in alternately. The ozTivo's left hand light changed from green to yellow when I tried to change channels.

I changed the IR code to Hailo and followed the instructions to change channels but nothing happened either with the channels or flashes from the blasters.

What's next, Peter buy a new blaster?

Thanks

John

TiVo has a built in blaster in the middle of the front panel, that should be flashing a second or so after the orange LED flashes. It is only visible through a camera.

Sounds like this is not working either, so might be an issue with your TiVo Box.

Try contacting our hardware guru Darren via his website (http://www.kingey1971.com/tivo) or PM here (http://forums.oztivo.net/member.php?82-Darren-King).

I spoke to Darren, Peter. The problem is solved. I feel a right chump.

I've always assumed the blasters receive the signal so I've always placed them on top of the TV. Now they're stuck on top of the STB pointing at the front it all works very well.

Thanks for you help and patience Peter.

Ok glad you got it sorted. It's often the simple things that trip us up.

Strange you could not see the blasters flashing through your camera though.

Well I don't want to highlight my boo boo but I was pointing the remote at the blasters on top of the TV, a long way away from the Tivo so there was little chance of them doing anything! Whilst I checked the mobile's camera with several remotes and it worked, I ended up using my wife's digital camera just in case I was creating another unknown. It was Darren's advice to point the front of the Tivo directly at the STB that I finally twigged that I was looking through the telescope from the wrong end.
