I am trying to keep a first generation Series 1 Tivo operating. Here in the states we've converted over the air broadcasting completely to digital. The Series 1 (circa 1999) I have has no support for digital tuner set top boxes. However, I see that this forum has come up with a way to create a custom IR slice so that I can control my set top box. I've slogged through the faqs and tried unsuccessfully to figure it all out myself, but I'm hoping one of the experts can help me out.
I have a Samsung SIR-T150 digital tuner and I have a pronto ccf file which contains the codes and I've attached it. I've not been able to convert the ccf data into anything Tivo usable. Can anyone give me some assistance in converting the data in the CCF so that I can control this set top box with my old Series 1 and keep it alive a little longer?

Can't help with CCf to TiVo conversion, but assuming you have a subscribed unit you should be able to ask TiVo support to add the IR codes for your box into the system.
They have recently added the codes for quite a few converter boxes for S1 users.
If you are using a hacked S1 then you might be able to use it to capture the codes. Instructions here (http://www.oztivo.net/twiki/bin/view/IR/CaptureIrCodesWithIrSliceCreator).

You could try some of the Samsung STB ir slices already captured by oztivo members. Often the IR codes are common to various STBs from the same manufacturer. http://www.oztivo.net/tivo-bin/irdatabase.cgi

Thanks for the link. I think I might be able to actually do that. I have to be skeptical that Tivo support would actually add IR codes to something as obsolete as the S1, but it's worth a shot. It may be old, but it still works and I like it.

I can't get to those slices without a proper login with password. The existing Samsung slices will probably work because my Samsung VCR can control this STB. Help me out getting to the irdatabase. I tried my login information for here but that didn't work. The Twiki registration page gives a 404 error.

The same IR slice is loaded into the S2's in the US, and maybe even the S3. So there is still a fairly large market using those slices.

The website login is different to this forum, you can register here (http://www.oztivo.net/twiki/bin/view/TWiki/TWikiRegistration). This page works for me, can you please let me know which link you followed.
