Hi all,
hoping someone can answer this question for me. Currently I live in a low reception area just outside Newcastle in NSW. I have a humax DSTB at the moment and frequently get reception issues with signal dropout. The level usually stays pretty high, over 80% but the quality does drop down under 40%.
Anyway, I am looking at purchasing a TIVO DSTB and was wondering if anyone new what the dropout level for the TIVO is. I have used several DSTB here before and the Humax gave me the most consistent picture. Other boxes dropped out at a lot higher dropout around 55 to 60% signal strength.

I dont want to spend the money on a TIVO to find that it will keep dropping out.
Hope someone can offer me some advice.
thanks
JC

And you have a high gain UHF aerial already?

I have found the TiVo actually requires a better quality signal than your average STB.

I don't know if it is due to the signal being split into the two tuners, or if the tuners themselves are not that sensitive/selective.

In my case I could not use the TiVo HD in place of a working (no Dropouts) STB. But by adding an amp the TiVo HD is fine.

This may not work for you if you are getting more noise than signal at your location.

Peter.
