Hi all.
Got a Sony series one with a cache card. Has a tuner mod (looks like an Alps) so it is getting a signal from the aerial. May also have a nicam sound mod - lots of odd wires and chips.
Had some symptoms and cant nail down the cause. Found a lot to do with faulty MPG chip and 8v regulator which are scaring me :o
Symptoms are:
Recordings will have no audio. Will record a series of SPs fine and then for some reason audio will go - no audio on any recording thereafter. Not always at start of recording (although to be fair the one recording that lost partway through I was using Tivoweb and updating Hackman at the time).
Sometimes recordings with no sound will have pixellated or jerky video on playback like the CPU has not got enough cycles to cope.
Tivo will stop accepting signals from remote - tivoweb will also stop working but Telnet seems to still work.
Tivo will stop accepting connection to Tivoweb.
Using NZ tivo image latest, updated tivoweb to v2.1.b3 (symptoms occurred before and after upgrade). Installed Hackman but the install didn't take
On reboot the kernel log will have an entry like this so I assume cache card is working OK
May 25 12:47:25 (none) kernel: Have a nice day.
May 25 12:47:25 (none) kernel: Configuring network...
May 25 12:47:25 (none) kernel: turbonet2: driver version 20050218
Log also has a lot of entries like this
May 25 12:18:17 (none) kernel: Unexpected nonzero filter type 2
May 25 12:37:45 (none) kernel: tcp_keepopen_proc on 0x803d8980 - needs a tickle
then after that the clock goes to Jan 1st and then back to right time/date - log file attached
First thought it might have been that the tivo is only connected to broadband every few days and was falling over after failed calls - but less sure now.
Any ideas on how to nail down the cause?
thanks
